AutumnRain's Tips & Tricks - Quick Guide for Newbs
Hi all. So you want to join Flight Rising? Awesome, I'll be looking forward to seeing you around the site!
Tip # 1: Choose your flight carefully.
When you sign up, you'll be asked to choose a "flight." A flight is an element that you wish to align yourself with. There's Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, Plague, Nature, Shadow, Arcane, Ice, Lightning, and Light. Choosing a flight is very important, and it's expensive to do again if you are unhappy with your choice. Fortunately, you have one free flight change after you sign up, just in case.
Flights also affect the eye color of your dragons' offspring. Fire is orange, Water is blue, Nature is green, Arcane is pink, and so on and so forth.
Typically, flights are like-minded groups of people. For example, Light members tend to be philosophers and thinkers, where Shadow tends to be secretive, and Plague tends to have a cut-throat attitude. If you're unsure of what flight would suit you best, feel free to ask in this thread.
Tip # 2: Choose your progen carefully.
After choosing a flight, you'll be asked to create a progenitor dragon. We call them "progens" for short. Color it to your liking, because this might be a dragon you keep forever and it'll be a pain in the neck to recolor -- recoloring is always a pain in the neck. You'll be assigned a second progen, the opposite gender from the one you made, and it'll be completely randomized. Good luck, few people are happy with their random progen.
Tip # 3: KEEP your progens.
Many, many people exalt (or send away) their progen dragons and quickly regret it. You won't receive any treasure for exalting a progen, so the only point would really be to clean out or theme your lair. Give it a solid two months before you do anything with the progens, as it may take that long to fully understand their worth. Some people can give them up without a fuss, but it seems that most people who exalt them do regret it forever.
Tip # 4: Always check the AH to see how rare your item is.
If you have a new items and don't know what it's worth, check the Auction House. You could be sitting on a Familiar that's worth 800k treasure, or it really could be worth nothing. It's good to check before you click "Sell" and get 2000 treasure out of it.
That's all! Any questions? Ask!
