The purpose of the mission statement will be to provide a message for all of the site to remind everyone that we don't want drama or fights, just an environment where everyone can feel happy and comfortable. I've heard a lot of negative stuff on the site recently, unintentionally said for the most part, and I feel like while a mission statement may not change the site, it could maybe reinforce the idea of a light-hearted chat site instead of one where people are constantly bringing others down. I've talked to a few people who aren't feeling as welcome on CPI as they should be, and a way to help new players/players that are feeling left out be more welcome may start with a mission statement. When the environment is happier and lighter, people are more willing to talk and befriend others. The placement of the mission statement is something that needs to be discussed due to unrealistic coding expectations/placements/etc.
A potential mission statement (or at least a draft of one) can include something like: "We, the community of Cats Paw Island, aspire to respect, encourage, and help one another to provide a fun and untroubled environment."
I LIKE THIS IDEA. THUMBS UP. I think at least sending a message out will give the members of CPI a sense of feeling important knowing that people do still care about the site being open, welcoming, and friendly.
